  • In Jan., EFI acquired privately-held Cretaprint S.L. based in Castellón, Spain, a leading developer of inkjet printers for ceramic tile printing. EFI plans to accelerate the adoption of digital technology on ceramics across the globe and especially in emerging markets.
  • In Jan., the company celebrated 20 years as a NASDAQ-listed company and began shipping the VUTEk TX3250r fabric printer.
  • In Feb., Fiery technology began driving the latest printers from Konica Minolta, including the bizhub PRESS C8000 and bizhub C754/C654 MFPs.
  • In March, EFI launched the Xerox EX Print Server powered by Fiery for Xerox Corporation's new D95/D110/D125 Copier/Printer, bringing workflow automation and higher image quality to print-for-pay, commercial printers and in-plant CRD providers.
  • In March at the ISA International Sign Expo, the company launched the EFI R3225, a 3.2-meter roll-to-roll, entry-level production UV inkjet printer for sign, banner, POP, and graphics printers who want to deliver stunning images on an expanded set of substrates.
  • In April, EFI acquired Metrics Sistemas de Informação of Brazil. Metrics is a leader in ERP (MIS) systems for the printing and packaging industries in Latin America.
  • In April, EFI reported a record 93 percent boost in ink volume for the Jetrion segment alone in Q1 2012, compared with the same quarter last year. These figures are strong confirmation that label converters now rely on the benefits of digital printing and the unique versatility of UV-curable formulations.
  • In June, the company opened a new sales and support center for the EFI Cretaprint line of products in Foshan, Guangdong, China. Foshan serves as the home of the largest concentration of tile manufacturers in China.
  • In June, EFI and Kodak launched connectivity between Kodak Prinergy Workflow and Fiery Digital Print Servers, providing print service providers with a fully-integrated solution that allows them to manage jobs for multiple offset and digital devices from a single user interface.
  • In August, EFI announced the installation of the 500th VUTEk GS Series superwide printer at Gigantic Color in Dallas, TX.
  • In October, EFI expanded its cloud-based storefront portfolio with the acquisition of Online Print Solutions (OPS), a leading innovator in the areas of web-to-print, dynamic publishing and cross-media marketing solutions.
